Chris recently graduated high school and is currently working a part-time job at the local grocery store stocking shelves. He is contemplating college, however he still wants to work, and does not want to travel far to go to school. He has been looking on the internet for colleges nearby, however none are within a reasonable distance, and the tuition is very expensive. Chris will need to take out loans, and wants to use the money he has saved from his job as well as future earnings, to make payments so that when he will graduate he would not owe as much.
Chris is thinking seriously about virtual or online colleges. He has noticed that the tuition is somewhat less expensive due to the fact that there would be no cost for room and board, as well as travel expenses. This would mean that Chris would be able to utilize his earnings to help with college funding.
Chris is unsure of what he will major in at college. He has aspirations of being in law enforcement, whether that be as a police officer, a parole officer, or even lawyer. He is hoping to get career guidance at the college he chooses to help him pick the right courses for his major.

He is very happy and content in his position, however he is thinking about possibly going for a higher position in the next few years. The new position would require him to have a bachelor's degree and at this time, he only has his associates degree. John is a devout family man, and enjoys spending time with them. So he does not want to have to travel to get to classes. And with his job, he does not always have the ability to be free during regular school hours.
John's company that he works for reimburses the tuition as long as he maintains a certain grade point average. So John is wanting to make sure he can take just enough courses per semester that he can not only focus on the classes, but his work and family life as well. He is looking at the possibility of online college as that would afford him the best opportunity to go to school without the hassle of the time constraints involved with going to class on specific days and times.
